Tamil Nadu Urban Local Body Election Date 2022
To get the information about the elections read this article carefully. The elections will be held on 19th February and many political parties like DMK, AIADMK, BJP and many independent candidates will contest with each other in these elections. These candidates will fight for 21 Corporations, 138 Muncipal Corporations, 490 Town Panchayats .
In the year 2011, the AIADMK have won the election with majority in both rural and urban local bodies. After that the election were supposed to be conducted in the year 2016 but the elections were not conducted due to some legal issues like many parties had filed case against the election for not giving them enough time for preparing for elections.
TN Urban Local Body Nomination List 2022
In the rural bodies, the elections were conducted in the year 2019. On 28th January 2022, Tamil Nadu High Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu election commission to conduct elections in the urban bodies of Tamil Nadu. The nomination process for the elections has already started on 28th January 2022 and it has also been ended on 4th February 2022.
The last date to with draw their nomination was 7th February and now no candidate can take their nominations back. The election for the Urban Local bodies will be conducted in single phase on 19th February 2022. The voting process from start from 7:00 AM will continue till 6:00 PM. The counting of votes will be done on 22nd February 2022 and result will also be announced on same day.

The winning ward councilors will take their oath on 2nd March 2022. The selection of mayor, deputy mayor, Chairman and Vice Chairman will be done on 4th March 2022 in indirect elections.

TN Urban Local Bodies Election Result 2022
There are some reservations for some cities in the state. Firstly the seat of mayor in Chennai and Tambaram is reserved for Scheduled Caste Women. The Avadi Corporation in tiruvallar district has been reserved for Scheduled Caste (General). The posts of mayor in 9 other districts are also reserved for women (general). These 9 seats are Cuddalore, Dindigul, Vellore, Karur, Sivakasi, Kancheepuram, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Erode.
Other than that 79 muncipalities are reserved for Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribe candidates. Out of these 79 seats 10 seats are reserved for SC (General), 10 are for SC (Women) and 58 are Women (General). Only Nalliyan municipality has been reserved for ST (Women).

Here are some rules and regulations that are to be followed by each and every candidate during campaigning:
- A candidate contesting in a single ward cannot be more than Rs. 90,000 for campaigning.
- Parties are not allowed to paste any poster or banner on any private or public property.
- All the parties and candidates should follow all the Covid19 Guidelines given by the state as well as central government.
- The candidates are allowed to do campaigning from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
- The candidates should not campaign near any worship place.
- If any candidate found any law or rules then he or she will be blacklisted from contesting elections.
- The candidates are not allowed to give speeches on any caste, religion etc.
All the arrangements done for ensuring smooth running of elections:
- Around 80.000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure the smooth running of elections.
- 45 flying squads have deployed to ensure the enforcement of code of conduct.
- Intense checking on the borders for transfer of huge amount of cash or liquor.
